Truxton Academy is excited to celebrate this "once in a lifetime" eclipse phenomenon happening right here in Central New York! Many districts in the CNY area are closing or going to a half day of school on April 8th. We would like to take this opportunity to share this amazing experience with our Truxton Academy Family & Community.

 

Truxton Academy will be ending our instructional day at 12:45 pm, followed by an  optional afternoon enrichment program. As always, if you live in a district that is closed or operating on a half day schedule and you cannot provide other transportation to and from school, your student's absence will be excused.  Students not staying for the eclipse enrichment program will need to be picked up between 12:45 and 1:00 pm. No school transportation will be running after the enrichment program, so you must arrange transportation for participating students' departure at 3:45.  

 

District transportation schedules for April 8th:

Cincinnatus - FULL DAY - regular morning pick up, parent pick up required

Cortland - HALF DAY - regular morning pick up, 12:45 bus dismissal

DeRuyter - HALF DAY - regular morning pick up, 12:45 bus dismissal

Homer - CLOSED - no transportation

McGraw - FULL DAY - regular morning pick up, parent pick up required

Tully - CLOSED - no transportation

 

We will be hosting an afternoon of fun while we wait for the disappearance of the sun! 

 

All family members are welcome to join this enrichment program which will take place from 12:45 pm to 3:45 pm. Please arrive no later than 2:00 pm and plan for student pick up or family departure by 3:45 pm.

We are looking to avoid any travel during the main event.

 

Students will eat at their normal lunch time prior to the 12:45 dismissal. Families that are attending are  welcome to pack a picnic or bring favorite drinks and snacks. We have extra solar eclipse viewing glasses available for those who join us.

 

If you would like your child to participate but cannot join us, they will be considered part of our extended day enrichment program and will need an Enrichment Program Permission slip completed and returned no later than Thursday, April 4, 2024.
