Truxton Academy Charter School, a small, rural, public elementary school in Central New York State, cultivates an enthusiasm for learning through a project-based curriculum that celebrates our rural life, environmental stewardship, and agricultural heritage. Integrating real world, student-centered learning, we plant a strong foundation for future academic success.

 

We have an impressive curriculum design which includes hands-on project-based learning experiences, Spanish language instruction beginning in kindergarten, and a strong foundation in science and math. Students have opportunities to integrate science, technology, engineering, agriculture and environmental education.

 

Our 5-year plan includes the development of a Rural Life Lab that includes a greenhouse, garden area, chicken coop, and small animal barn. Each classroom will be responsible for part of the care and maintenance of the plants and animals in the Rural Life Lab.

 

Truxton Academy has established interactive relationships with neighboring colleges and universities and with community businesses. Our students have an off-campus field lesson or in-school activity every month with one of these organizations committed to strengthening our school.

 

In order to maintain our high expectations educationally while we grow a grade level each year to become K-6, we welcome sponsors, grants, and donations to help us hire exceptional staff and to develop unique learning opportunities for Truxton Academy students.
