Update from our Head of School - March 27, 2020

Updated: Apr 8, 2020

Hello Families,

I want to start out by giving a HUGE shout-out to all of our wonderful families who have really stepped up during this time to make sure that learning continues for your children.  Way to go!  I also want to remind you all to give yourself some grace.  This was thrust upon us all with very little planning time.  I know there are folks who are feeling frustration.  Working while frustrated is not productive.  We do not want you to push yourself or your kids to the point of frustration.  Please take time to connect as a family, enjoy your time together, de-stress during this time which is scary for some of us, and allow yourself to be human.  We see how hard you are working and we appreciate it.  You do not have to do all the things all at once.  We are all adjusting and learning as we go.  Be assured, what you are doing is valuable and is enough!

From families, we see kids baking and doing crafts.  We see kids working on the project that was sent home and reading books.  We see kids doing the phonics and Spanish work that was sent home.  We see kids doing math through games, worksheets, building projects, and cooking.  We see kids getting outside and being active.  All of these are important activities for our kids right now.  We are so proud of our students and their families and are grateful that you all are a part of our community!

Secondly, I want to give a huge shout out to our teaching staff!  Our teachers have been doing video read alouds, lessons over Zoom, making phone calls to families, and in general being awesome to make sure that kids continue to learn and also feel that connection that is such an important part of our school family. Way to go Truxton Academy Team!

Last, but certainly not least, I want to give a shout out to all of our wonderful students.  These kiddos brighten my day when I get to see them online (or the couple I have seen in person).  I miss seeing their smiling faces every day at school, and I love when they share all of the learning they are doing at home.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Thank you, as always for your support of our school and your child's education.  We are a stronger team because you are a part of it.

Take care and stay healthy!

Thanks,

Sara and the Truxton Academy Team
